The past 7 weeks have been interesting. I have been maybe 6 days spread out across them all. First I had a 3 week annual training in Grayling. When I got home I spent 2 weeks at Ft. Drum for a simulation exercise. When I got home from that I went to Colorado for a week. That was a lot of fun and have some pictures here. Then when I got home from that I had a work conference to go to.

So whats the remix. The remix is I will be talking about more about internet / business type things on here compared to my bitches and complaints. Hrm… Stay tuned!

Starting stage 2 of the craziness. Cozumel was AMAZING. I got plenty of pictures however I have not uploaded all ~700 of them yet. You can see what I have here.

Today I got approved for the apartment I was looking at. Tomorrow shortly after drill I am signing the lease. I will be moving in once I get back from Germany in ~3 weeks. It was also my last day working for the school district =( . Seems odd that it was going on 5 years since I started working there.

Saturday I leave for Germany! Wooo! Hopefully I will have some fun. There are a few things I am not liking so far, but hopefully it will change.

(it will be the 3rd time this week I am in Charlotte.. peachy!)

Hopefully when things settle down I will write a decent blog post.

So the next few weeks will be quite crazy for me. Friday I will be heading over to a hotel in Detroit. Saturday morning I have a flight at 6am to Cozumel Mexico for a nice 8 day SCUBA diving vacation. SWEET!!! Ive been waiting for over 6 months on this trip and its finally here.

6 days after I get back from that trip I will be heading to Germany for just under 3 weeks for some National Guard training. I hear its going to be boring, however it will be a great expereince in my opinion. I had to get a Hep-A, Hep-B, and Flu shot as my records were out of date. Then they health department also gave me a tetnis shot because my state records didn’t show it even though the military records did. (bummer dude!)

I applied for an AGR (full time) job with my Guard unit as a Personell Services Delivery Redesign Clerk. Essentially I take work that would happen at the state level and do it here. After a few short weeks I found out I got the job. So I will be moving to Charlotte and starting that job shortly after I get back from Germany. I am really excited for this. Though I will have to reclass my MOS to a 42A (Human Resources). Though, I think this is a good thing so I have no problem doing it.

So Sears has impressed me this holiday season. How so Jeff? Well they are doing this thing for the deployed troops and their families. Whne you register you family gets a gift card and Sears splits up donated money across them. I was expecting the one my mom got to only get like $15 however I thought it was still very nice of them. When the card came it had $100 on it and they haven’t even dispersed the donated money yet. $100!!!!! Now to some that might not seem like a lot, however I find it a great gesture and thank Sears for that.

Then, today my mom received an email (from my dad I believe) with another gift card of $100 for military families to spend on Christmas stuff at a Sears store. Need decorations? No problem Sears to the rescue. During the holiday season there are many places taking donations and the one that effects my family and I the most are those that do donations to military families. While my family may not need this stuff, there are those that do, and it brings joy especially to the kids of those families.

To which I say thank you Sears and those who made any donations to give family members of deployed soldiers and the soldiers themselves a better christmas. Thank you.

So this past 10 days I was up in Grayling for Anual Training phase 2. I tell you what. This is probably the best time I have had since getting out of Basic/AIT. I played on AFATDS a shit ton and it including shooting LIVE high explosive and illumination rounds. I didn’t get to see them from where I was at but I hit the “RED” button to send them down to the units.

I also busted my ass a lot. I volunteered to get on AFATDS when people were going to sleep yet we were still shooting missions. If I wasn’t doing anything important I made sure the guys doing RTO were not on it for a super long time. Most of my days were from 0400 – 0130 (4am – 1am (the next day)). A few of those days I was forced out of our TOC (tactical operations center) to go get some sleep and give someone else a turn.

Wednesday I went down to the gun line of Charlie battery and watched the FDC (same as me) do their jobs when a fire mission came down. This was a first time I had seen real live action of a battery unit processing missions. When I do it, it is at battalion level and there is less stuff to do and manage. While I was down there I got to see the howitzers shoot. OH MY GOD! It was awesome. Going off topic for a second. I watch fireworks to feel the boom and intensity. I don’t know if I will like a fireworks show ever again. The blasts were intensive and great.

Last but not least. From working so hard and people actually noticing it, I got an Army Achievement Medal. One day I will scan the certificate and maybe take a picture of the medal. I am way to tired to do it today.

So, my job interview is tomorrow at 2pm. I cannot wait. I received the confirmation email and it had a nice little snippet that made me even more happy. It said that they see that I applied for a webmaster job also at the same place and that this interview will work as the interviews for both jobs. This made me really happy as my odds of getting one of the jobs have went up a little.

I will post how my interview went tomorrow night. I am also going to talk with the people at Alana Woods about their apartments.

Hopefully all will go well.

Gee wilikers batman. 2 posts in one day. YES! Today just as I was about to talk to my dad via skype I received a phone call. The call was from a Colonel and somewhat scared me when I was told who it was. I DID NOTHING WRONG!!! Why was a colonel calling my house, especially at 7PM. Well it turned out to be excellent news and I am glad this officer called. He was wondering if I was still interested in a job I applied for back in March. Oh, I am definitley still interested in this job. My eyes lit up like a christmas tree when he asked me that question.

So, I have an interview next Thursday in Lansing for the job. I very much hope it goes good and that I do infact get this job. Leaving the school will be a downer, however its for bigger and better things so if I get offered the job there is a 99.999999% chance I will take it.

National Guard: I had the first phase (of two) for my Annual Training. This is the “2 weeks a year” you hear from commercials and recruiters. I the days I was there I went through pretty much all emotions. Gladly happy was one of the predominant one. I qualified this week with the M16A2 rifle. My last four rounds was a double feed and caused me to loose those so it brought my score down a bit.

Work: This is going good. Not a whole lot is happening or planned at the moment.

Life: Its nice getting back to civilian life. This morning I was so tired I slept in a bit before going to work. I am still awaiting to see if I get an interview with the 2 government jobs in Lansing. I am hoping it happens but who knows. On Wednesday I plan on buying a MacBook Pro. WHAT!!! Yes, the lower end 15″ model. I have several reasons for doing so but “because I want one” is the main thing. I have also decided to close down FusecHosting for the time being. I am doing this because the ROI is just not enough to keep it going. This means that I will no longer be doing web hosting for anybody but myself. If you need a good web host I suggest EastSolid.com

That is all for now.
